Cantu Product Review

Award winning textured haircare line,  Cantu recently launched a New Anti Fade, color protecting collection that is formulated with a unique Quinoa Pro-Tech technology that results in up to 84% less color fade.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I recently switched up my normal blonde for red. As I am sure many of you red heads have had a problem with the color fading like I have. Once I saw Cantu came out with this new product, I was super excited and ready to try it! To give you a little bit of an overview of the product. You have to use all the products in the picture above for the best results. The shampoo is said to was away build up without stripping color, reduces color fade. The conditioner, moisturizes to enhance color vibrancy, and protects color while improving manageability. And the masque is supposed to strengthen and softens color treated hair.

The reason behind my 4 stars, is I didn’t really care for the masque. The product made my hair feel hard and brittle. Now, from the pictures you will see my hair faded. Which I am sure over time that will happen. Mine happened a little sooner than I would have liked. I can’t really say that this product specifically helped. I would love to hear feedback from others who have tried the product. Nonetheless, it was worth checking it out.. The product smells great!

Online Dating II

“Online dating is a system that enables strangers to find and introduce themselves to new personal connections over the Internet, usually with the goal of developing personal, or romantic relationships. An online dating service is a company that provides specific mechanisms for online dating through the use of Internet-connected personal computers or mobile devices. Such companies offer a wide variety of unmoderated matchmaking services, most of which are profile-based.” Wikipedia

Online dating is the new thing for us, if you feel ashamed.. DON’T. I would say it has many perks, and very convenient. Many people have found love and success from online dating. Also, you have to be very careful when dating people you have no background on. Be open, as well as smart and cautious.  Random Fact: I absolutely love the movie, “You’ve Got Mail” with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks… If you haven’t seen it, check it out! That movie alone made me;  A) love Starbucks, and B) take a stab at online dating.

Online dating doesn’t have as much stigma as it used to. With about 40 million Americans using dating sites and apps, it’s becoming more and more common for people to meet and date online. Not to mention the fact that we spend most of our time connecting through our phones on social apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat anyway. I found a few pros and cons on online dating.

With all that being said, the choice is yours. I’ll reiterate the importance of being safe! Do not share too much information too fast. If you have police officer friends, have them run their background.. Hilarious, but I am so serious. 😂

Don’t fall in love with potential

Falling in love with potential is very relevant in our personal lives, as well as professional. As a child you have dreams about who you aspire to be, as well as marry. You map out the perfect job. Attend college, and you choose a major based upon dreams that you’ve had to land your perfect job! In many ways you do the same thing when you’re dating. You’ve built up the perfect mate in your mind. Based upon things you’ve either seen on tv, or you’re trying to model a relationship based upon your parents. But what happens when you don’t land your dream job? Or you can’t find your perfect mate? What do you do? Lets take a look into both areas a little further.

Perfect Mate – As we all have before we build the “perfect” mate in our mind. As a spiritual person it’s so many things wrong with that idea. What we may think is perfect, may not be the best for us. Look back to the people you have dated and it didn’t work. It’s probably a common theme, you are over looking. It may be time to step out of your box, of mainly unrealistic expectations and see people for who they are. You may also come across people who you see things in, potential, that they may not see themselves. It is not your job to get them there. It’ll cost you more time and energy than it’s worth. Only God has the “perfect” mate for you. Trust the process, and embrace every season and the lesson that comes with.

Dream Job – Having goals in life, is what we are taught to do. With that you must possess a level of resilience to endure the hardships that come with having expectations. I spoke above about trusting the process. In everything seek out Him, and what is for you will be. Your dream job, may not be the vision you had as a child. But while you’re chasing your dream, look at all the pitfalls as lessons learned. If you hit a road block, analyze the situation. Take what you can learn from the journey, and move forward. You will repeat hardships, if you aren’t recognizing the lesson that was meant for you.

Moral of the story is to always have a Plan B. Having a Plan B doesn’t mean you failed. Failure only happens when you give up! As always these are mere suggestions, but lessons learned. 😉

Curls Product Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

CURLS was founded in 2002 in Elk Grove, California by CEO, Mahisha Dellinger. During the last decade, CURLS has emerged as a leader in the natural hair care industry. Continued development of new products has further established its unique formulation of certified organic ingredients which are distinctive of the CURLS brand. While CURLS continues to be one of the best recognized natural hair care brands in North America, its long-term strategic plan is to increase awareness among multi-ethnic consumers around the world.

I was introduced to the brand Curls, at last years Bella Kinks Natural Hair Expo. I’ve been natural for almost 4 years, but I really didn’t embrace it until about 2 years ago. I’ve tested many products as you can see from previous reviews. I can honestly say, I love the Blueberry Bliss Curl Collection! I still straighten my hair often, and I use this line to get my Curls back in formation.  The line is reparative, and it works great for me since I have color in my hair. Now in the pictures you will see the difference in my curl definition due to the color. My stylist stated it wasn’t necessarily heat damage, but color used in my hair has changed/straightened out my pattern.  I haven’t had the opportunity yet, but I will add a protein treatment to my wash day to revive some of those lost curls.

Curls has a full line of products for all curl types, as well as a product line for kids. I personally buy all of my products online, since its convenient for me. However, you can find these products in Target as well as CVS. On the website I provided above, a link is provided to search for products in your area. If not, don’t fret you have the option to shop online and you can save big on promotions that are usually ongoing.

Products Used:

For my Wash and Go I used: Reparative Hair Wash, Reparative Hair Mask,Leave in Conditioner, Creme Brule – Whipped Curl Cream, and Goddess Curls – Botanical Gelle

For my Flat Twist I used: Reparative Hair Wash, Reparative Hair Mask, Leave in Conditioner, and Twist-N-Shout Cream

Wash and Go:

I personally will not try this hair style again until my hair is a darker color. The brighter colors straighten out my curl pattern, and this just looks foolish. So! Maybe, I’ll try it again in the fall.

Flat Twist Out:

The flat twist is the lane I live in. It’s become very easy for me to twist my hair, and I am finally realizing what products work for me. Such an exciting feeling!

One more thing! Curls recently added to their Blueberry Bliss Curl Collection. They are adding; Blueberry and Coconut – Hair Milk, Blueberry and Mint Tea – Scalp Treatment, and Aloe and Blueberry Juice – Curl Moisturizer. I can’t wait to add these items to my collection!

Fall/Winter Hair Transformation

This past November marks 3 years since I have applied a straightening relaxer to my hair. For some in question a relaxer is a type of lotion or cream generally used by people with tight curls or very curly hair which makes hair easier to straighten by chemically “relaxing” the natural curls. The active agent is usually a strong alkali, although some formulations are based on ammonium thioglycolate instead. I “relaxed” my hair for 20 years. Even though I have always had a pretty decent amount of healthy hair during that time, I am happy on the decision to leave the chemicals alone. I was terrified to embrace my natural hair, due to the environment I worked in and how I would be perceived by my peers. Since my decision my hair is stronger, has more personality, and I am more confident in who I am.

October 2016 I cut a few inches off and transitioned into a fiery copper color!! 💇🏽😍 Surprising to me, my curl pattern changed. I feel in love with the new curls, I actually wanted to cut more. I must say I love being a natural curl girl! It allows me to be creative with my hair, and it’s so many products and styles to try. Each week is a new adventure with my hair, how exciting!

I received quite a few goodies from the Bella Kinks Natural Hair Expo. Below are reviews, and styles with various products.

Lacee Beauty (Dallas, TX)-

Color transition – My hair can’t handle lighter colors in the fall. I typically go darker in the fall, my hair always speaks to me. Listen to your hair ladies! My beautician is great, she has given my natural hair life and she doesn’t do anything that doesn’t benefit the health of my hair.

Style – Wash and Go

  • I washed  with The Natural Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo, and conditioned with the Hydrating Cream Conditioner
  • Applied the Moisturizing  Curl Activator Cream to enhance my curl pattern
  • Topped it off with the Define & Shine Custard to hold the style

This was my first attempt at a Wash and Go style and I definitely have some more learning to do. Overall it wasn’t bad, but the custard was a little flaky. I can’t say I cared for that.

Style – Braid Out

  • I washed with the African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo, and conditioned with the Balancing Conditioner
  • I applied the Dandruff Control Hair Masque, and sat with my Hot Head Thermal Hair Care for 30 min
  • I sectioned my hair and applied the Dandruff & Dry Scalp Elixir to my scalp, and braided my hair with the Curl Enhancing Smoothie

I chose this particular brand of Shea Moisture due to a scalp condition I have called, Seborrhea Capitis. I was overall satisfied with the brand, and I will continue to do the masque regimen once a month. My hair was really soft after the Masque, and the Curl Enhancing Smoothie definitely had my curls popping!

#AMILLONWAYSTOSHEA – 👈🏾 CLICK ON THE LINK!! Shea Moisture has over 100 products, and that alone is frustrating!! So this awesome tool helps simplify things for you. All you have to do is upload a pic, cause I know you have a selfie! You’ll be prompted to answer a few questions about your hair, and what you’re looking for…. then WAYLAY! You’ll have suggested products based upon your answers.

Style – Twist Out

  • I washed with Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo, and conditioned with the Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner
  • I let my hair air dry for about an hour, before I apply my styler
  • I applied the Twist & Define Cream for twists
  • I used the Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer later in the week to refresh my style

💡 I absolutely loved the Hot Head Thermal Hair Care Bonnet. I deep condition my hair once a month, and the convenience of this bonnet has me no longer sitting under a dryer. I was able  to condition my hair while taking care of duties around the house. I encourage you to check it out for your hair care needs.

💡I always use TGIN’s Argan Replenishing Hair and Body Serum when taking down my twists, or braids. I also use it daily to add shine and moisture to my style.

💡Cantu and Shea Moisture has a product line for Men, and Kids.

Online Dating

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Will you swipe left or swipe right to meet that special someone?❤️ Online Dating is becoming more and more popular. Living in a new city,  that may be the best way to meet someone. I’ve heard from many men and women, they chose Online Dating due to a hectic work schedule. Trying to actually get out and meet someone has caused a challenge.  Have you met someone special online to spend Valentines Day with?

Online Dating didn’t necessarily work out well for me. Like at all! I encountered more creepy guys, then good. I found myself being matched with men who had no interest in me.  You also have the men and women who aren’t necessarily truthful on their profiles. When meeting someone online you have to be careful. They have shows out like Catfish for people who have fake profiles. Make sure you go through some sort of vetting process before meeting someone you don’t know a whole lot about.

I’m curious to hear some your stories. Even though it hasn’t worked for me, I still believe in the process. Also, many others do as well it’s a very profitable industry. I will have a Single in the City series on my Podcast that will cover experiences from Online Dating as well as the 5 Love Languages. Check out some of the statics I found out below.
Pay Site Vs Free Site:

I hear the quality of candidates is much better for pay websites (Match), versus sites the sites that are free (PIF). With no filter, I hear free sites are more for “hook ups.” If that is what you are going for then ok, but if you are looking for love you have to look at it as an investment.

Cantu Products Review

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Every day, there are people out there embracing their natural, beautiful, textured hair and owning their unique style. We are here to celebrate these strong, gorgeous women and their strong, gorgeous hair, because perfect natural is what Cantu is all about. Our collection of award-winning products made just for textured hair is all you need to achieve any look or style you want. My Curl. My Cantu.”

Cantu Beauty

I introduced my natural hair journey, in my previous post… Obia Naturals.  I discovered Cantu products about a year after I stopped relaxing my hair. I enjoy Cantu’s natural hair product. I rated them 4 stars, because I am not a fan of the Co-Wash. This particular product makes my hair feel hard and brittle, which is very different from the other products listed. My hair is left soft, and bouncy. If you are struggling with finding products click on the link listed above. The site recommends products for each hair type, also which products to cocktail to achieve the perfect style. Below are the products I used, and styles achieved. I color my hair every 6 months, and the Texas heat is crucial, so a Leave in Conditioner is a must for me.

Waiting for your Boaz

Hello my Single Ladies!

Most women embrace being single, and you ladies are super dope! However, I know it is more than a few who struggle with it. You are probably asking yourself what’s wrong you. I’m here to let you know, it’s nothing wrong with you. God simply has not brought your Boaz to you. In the meantime, and in the season of our singleness we have to focus on what God is trying to show and teach us. Work on growing closer to Him, being obedient and humble, and working on your craft. Also, ladies God does not need your help finding your mate. People will tell you things like you have to get out the house more, do this… Do that. When in all actuality you do not have to do any of those things. God will make sure you are where you need to be…. It is His timing, and not yours. Let God mold, develop, and prepare you for your King.

Ruth 2 – Check out the story.

Single in the City

Hey ladies I decided to provide a post to help my single ladies feel a little more comfortable. Being single in a big city can be intimidating. I know many women are not comfortable being in public alone, but I am here to tell you, you are not alone. If you still are not comfortable to putting your feet in the water just yet, many cities have groups you can join to get out and meet people. I am the queen of networking. So whatever your profession, or your interests are I am sure there is a group. If you are in the DFW area, I will provide some links to groups I joined. If not, just ask and I will be more than happy to help you search for groups in your area to join!

A few tips for you ladies:

*It is ok to dine alone, catch a great movie, play, or go to the museum

*Do not feel obligated to talk to every man that approaches you

*It is also ok to spark a conversation with someone that does catch your attention

*Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, if heels are not your thing do not kill yourself wearing them to impress a man

*This also includes hair and makeup, be true to who you are.. the perfect man will love you as you are
