Chip Credit and Debit Cards

So, I know we, the people,  are totally over our debit and credit cards with chips in them. Half the stores you go to, don’t use the chip function.. Which leaves you totally confused. Then you have the stores that do use them, and it takes forever. Now, the chip can seem like a huge inconvenience because it takes an additional 30 seconds out of your day. However, it is here to make life a little more easier and to help you sleep better at night. The last thing you want to worry about daily, or on vacation is is someone is trying to hack into your account. We all work hard for our money, so let us try to comply.

As of October 1st, 2015 all of your debit and credit cards should have been replaced with a new chipped cards. If this is not the case please call the customer service number on the back of your card, and request a new one. So let us take a look at the benefits, and how it can protect your identity from fraudsters.

Reasons why the EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) chip can save you a headache:

*In case of fraud, you are not liable

*The chips generates a new transaction code every time it is used

*If you travel overseas it is a requirement, or you can’t use your cards

Criminals are clever, so anything can happen at all times. If you notice any abnormal activity on your accounts contact your financial institution immediately. While, they make all these security features to protect you, you still have to proceed responsibly and protect your personal information.
